Portrait Session in Japan

Vacation Portraits in Tokyo or Shonan, a seaside retreat area long loved in Japan

From a family trip to a romantic getaway or a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Japan, I capture the essence of your journey in elegant, timeless portraits.

I’m a bilingual photographer based in Chigasaki, Kanagawa — the Shonan coastal area, just one hour from Tokyo. With over 20 years of professional experience, I offer vacation portrait sessions in Tokyo’s historic gardens and Shonan’s scenic beaches, delivering images you’ll treasure forever.

The Portrait Session Process

What to expect...

1. Booking & Consultation

Begin by completing the contact form. Together we’ll choose the package, date, and setting that best reflect your vision. I also invite you to a brief Zoom conversation—an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and ensure every detail feels effortless.

2. The Session

Once you’ve arrived in Japan, a quick message confirms we’re all set. On the day, we’ll meet at your chosen location in Tokyo or Shonan. I’ll gently guide you while leaving space for natural moments, so the experience feels relaxed and genuine.

Additional Notes

  • Group Size
Sessions are designed for individuals, couples, and small groups of up to 6 participants. With an additional fee, arrangements can be made for groups of up to 10. Due to park regulations in Japan, larger groups cannot be accommodated.

  • Early Booking
Advance reservations are highly appreciated. Many gardens and cultural sites in Tokyo and Shonan require prior permission for photography, and booking early allows me to secure the necessary permits for a smooth experience.

  • Designated Locations
All portrait sessions are held at designated locations to provide the best setting and guest experience. Street photography is not offered as a primary option, though it may be included as a secondary location.

  • Multiple Locations
A second location may be included if it is within walking distance (about 15 minutes). If a taxi is required, transportation costs are the client’s responsibility, and travel time is counted within the session duration.

  • Travel to Tokyo
Portrait sessions in central Tokyo require an additional travel fee of ¥5,000.

Bilingual Photographer in Japan, Mieko Horikoshi
Aloha Everyone!

Thank you so much for visiting my website and considering a portrait session with me.

I’m Mieko, a bilingual photographer based in Chigasaki, in the Shonan coastal area near Tokyo. My photography career began in Maui, Hawai‘i, over 20 years ago, and the spirit of aloha continues to shape the way I connect with people through the lens. Today, I bring that same warmth and artistry to creating timeless portraits in Japan.
